Qualifications

You must submit a pre-screening application to be considered for a scholarship.   

Applicants are reviewed holistically. Financial hardship is not determined solely by income level. 

Applications are evaluated on 

- Financial Need

- Demonstrated Hardship

- Child Character and Attitude

- Parent Commitment and Communication

- Community/Coach Recommendation

- Overall Impact of Scholarship for the participant


Eligible applicants must:

  • Be between the age of 4-18 years old at the time of application
  • Be actively enrolled in school, homeschool or an approved educational program
  • Maintain consistent school attendance
  • Demonstrate respectul behavior both on and off the field

While academic excellence is not required, applicants should demonstrate consistent effor, respectful behavior and school participation appropriate for their age. 


A copy of most recent report card or transcript will be required upon consideration of your application. 


Scholarships will be provided for participation in dance and recreational sports. Only recreational leagues qualify. We do not provide tuition or funds for travel, select or club leagues. 


If you child wishes to participate in an activity not listed above, please note that on your application and a Maddyn's Mission representative will contact you for further details. 


At this time, scholarships are intended for residents of:


  • Fort Bend County
  • Katy
  • Fulshear
  • Richmond
  • Rosenberg
  • Sugar Land
  • Needville
  • Cypress
  • Sealy


Hardships may include, but are not limited to:

  • Household income limitations
  • Single-parent households
  • Ongoing medical issues with immediate family member
  • Learning/physical disabilities
  • Fostered or adopted or guardianship situations
  • Loss of parent or sibling
  • Divorce or Separation
  • Natural Disaster Impact


Families receiving assistance through Maddyn’s Mission agree to:

  • Ensure the child attends practices and games consistently when possible 
  • Communicate respectfully with coaches, volunteers, and organization staff 
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship and positive behavior 
  • Notify the organization if circumstances change or participation is no longer possible 
  • Scholarship funds are distributed directly to the studio or sports organization on behalf of the recipient.  
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum 90% attendance rate, which will be      monitored by the foundation in communication with the organization or      studio.


Failure to maintain attendance and meet program commitment requirements may result in revocation of the scholarship and repayment of funds to the foundation. We understand life happens and emergencies arise. Our goal is partnership, communication, and accountability, not punishment. 


After initial review of submitted application, selected applicants will be asked to provide supporing documentation to verify financial need or qualifying circumstances. 


Supporting documents inlcude, but are not limited to:

- Proof of household income

- Proof of residency

- Proof of enrollment in assistance

- Proof of hardship or special circumstances

- Most recent report card or transcript

- Letter of recommendation

- Other information relevant to the application 


All information submitted will be kept confidential and used solely for scholarship evaluation purposes. 


To help us better understand each applicant beyond financial need alone, all applicants being considered for a scholarship will be required to submit a letter of recommendation.


Recommendation letters may be submitted by:

  • Coach
  • Teacher
  • Counselor
  • Pastor or Youth Leader
  • Community Leader
  • Mentor
  • Another non-family adult who knows the child well


The recommendation should breifly speak to the child's character, attitude, sportsmanship, perseverance, leadership and overall impact. 


Our goal is to identify children who will benefit meaningully from the opportunity to participate in youth sports and who reflect the values of teamwork, reslience, and positive character. 


Letters do not need to be lengthy or formal. Honest and heartfelt recommendations are encourage.
